The theatre will hold the event for the first time. Belarusian puppet theatre troupes, as well as foreign ones, have been invited. At the contest the performances of Belarusian, Ukrainian, Lithuanian, Polish and Russian theatres are expected. The negotiations with other countries are in progress.
The participants of the festival will show the performances for children and adults. The Grand Prix will be awarded considering the results of the contest entries, also the winners in three nominations will be selected – the best stage director’s work, the best art director’s work and the best theatre troupe. The jury will consist of Belarusian stage directors, theatre critics, arts critics and lecturers. As expected, young theatre-goers in person will assess child’s performances. The performances are planned to be held on two stages – on the Puppet Theatre’s and on the small stage of the Drama Theatre. Everybody who wants can attend the contest performances.
It is planned to hold the festival “Puppets above the Neman” in Grodno - the town with the oldest theatre traditions - annually.
