Nativity of Mother of God Convent

At the beginning of  the 18th century the women’s Basilian institution built a church of Nativity of the Virgin Mary. The buildings were destroyed by fire and than rebuilt in 1720 and 1728.

In 1843 the Basilian convent was modified into orthodox Nativity of Mother of God Convent. In 1866 the Sergey Radonezhsky church was built.

Soon after the construction of the convent, it was visited by the emperor Alexander the II.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

The Bernardine monastery and the Brigit convent

The Bernardine monastery is situated on a hill that rises over the Neman. The Brigit convent is located on the main street of feudal Grodno.

The features of classic catholic abbeys are visible in the ensemble of the buildings.

They have courtyard formed by the buildings of the church and the Monastery, an orchard with a garden, a courtyard with outbuildings and a separate entrance and front yard in front of the temple.
